The nifty little accessory attaches inline between the extension "wand" and the handheld vacuum unit to act as the first stage of fine dust collection before the main bag. There is one problem though; the Makita Dust Cyclone is currently priced at $55 on Amazon, yet looks nearly identical to one that can be found on eBay for as little as $12. The Makita version...

What makes us happy is a tool that can do the job, yet takes up as little weight or space as possible; this is what Makita's Black line of 18V Sub-Compact Brushless Drivers seems to be offering. Despite the fact that I have access to other, more powerful tools, my go to impact driver is a Makita that I have had for a few years. The main reason for this is the size and weight. It doesn't...

Inc. by Sean Podpeskar over Makita’s BL1815 and BL1830 18-Volt Lithium-ion batteries. The suit alleges violations of Minnesota’s Unlawful Trade Practices Act, False Statements in Advertising Act, breach of express warranty, breach of implied warranty and fraudulent misrepresentation. The back story is that in the summer of 2013 Podpeskar purchased a Makita Cordless Combo Set from ACME Tools, which included an impact driver and a full-sized drill. He alleges that after only a handful of...

In fact, Makita has bragging rights to over 100 tools that are part of their LXT battery platform; and it looks like it is going to grow by at least one more cordless “tool” pretty soon. That is, if you can count a cordless Makita coffee maker as a tool. Amazon has a new listing for the Makita DCM500Z 18V LXT Cordless Coffee Maker, though currently listed as unavailable, it will hopefully be available soon. The Makita DCM500Z isn’t the...

The benefit, of course, is that there is no cord to get in the way. Brushless technology along with larger 4.0Ah batteries should already give the Makita drywall screwdriver a long runtime, but Makita added a new feature called Push Drive that should extend it even further. From my understanding, users can lock the trigger in the ON...

Powered by the Makita 4.0Ah battery, it is capable if making up to 100 single gang box cuts into ½-inch drywall on a single charge. Thanks to the Makita-built motor, the XOC01M delivers 30,000 RPM for fast clean cuts in drywall. It accepts both 1/8” and ¼” bits that can be changed out in a snap with the on-board bit-change feature that eliminates the need for a wrench. What really makes this charger special is its ability to charge both batteries simultaneously. If that was not enough, it can also charge your USB devices thanks to its built-in USB port. The DC18RD delivers the same rapid charging speeds as their single battery charger: charging two 3.0Ah batteries in 30 minutes, two 4.0Ah batteries in 40 minutes, and two 5.0Ah batteries in 45 minutes. Obviously, this charger will be especially beneficial to...

It turns out the wait will not be long at all, as the Makita BL1850 are set to come out in December 2014. The new Makita batteries are said to provide 65% more run-time than the Makita 3.0Ah batteries, yet only take a mere 45-minture to reach a full charge. In comparison, their competitor’s batteries take about 1.5 hours to reach a full charge. ...

The fan has three speed settings and it can even oscillate to cover a larger area. A built-in timer can be used to automatically shut the fan down after 1, 2, or 4 hours. Makita says it can run for up to 4 hours on a single 4.0Ah battery, but the included AC adapter can be used for longer run times.
