Porter-Cable is taking their oscillating tool design, with tool-less accessory change, to their 18-volt lithium-ion cordless line and is going up against Makita. The new PCCK510LA has a little less speed than we are used to at only 7,500 to 15,000 oscillations per minute, but it is said to provide double the run time of their 12V Max oscillation tool when using the 18v compact battery, and triple the runtime with using their high capacity 18V battery. The tool features a...

For a limited time Rockler is offering a Porter-Cable 690LR fixed base router and a 4210 dovetail jig for the low price of only $199.98. I am talking about a single nail or screw that has fallen out of someones toolbag or a dropped screw box, something so small that can ruin your day if it ends up in the wrong place. If you are lucky you end up with only a slow leak and have a way to inflate your tire. Porter-Cable has announced a new High-Pressure/High-Volume Inflator that can not only run off of a...

Some times I get caught up in another project and forget to tune in, or even worse, I tune in only to see that PBS is trying to make money and has pulled the show for the day, but I like to watch when I can. I am not much of a woodworker, so I watch mostly for entertainment value, but if I was more into woodworking, all those shop tools are darn expensive? ...

But what about the people that are invested into the 18-volt battery system, or people without either? This is where Porter-Cable has done something that I really like, they have introduced both an 18-volt (PCC581B ) and a standard alkaline 9-volt version (PCC582B ) of their new Infrared Thermometers. I should also note that the 18V version is compatible with PC 18V Lithium-ion and NiCd batteries. ...

So when I got news about a new 1-gallon from Porter-Cable, the excitement began to flow; that is until I realized that the new C1010 compressor from Porter-Cable is the same as the D55140 from DeWalt. Not that there is anything wrong with the DeWalt, it's just that the new compressor is not really new. The specification for both units are almost identical, with the C1010 coming it at 71 decibels, which...

The big advantage for Fein, the original oscillating tool, is their massive head start. Because of this, they have features such as tool-less blade changing. This is the feature Porter-Cable has chosen to use to set them apart. Besides Fein, Porter-Cable is the only other brand that offers a tool-less blade change system. Fein still holds a patent for their tool-less design, but it looks like Porter-Cable's own design differs enough to get around it. ...

"We spent a significant amount of time talking to contractors about their needs in a small angle grinder. As a result of this research, we learned that contractors want a number of things, including the ability to grind and cut metal and make adjustments without needing separate tools," said Wil Granger, group product manager, PORTER-CABLE. "Having an understanding of the frustrations our users face has enabled us to...

I suggested they bring it to their full sized saws, but sadly, PC just announced some new full sized reciprocating saws, but none of them have the clamping feature that a liked. Maybe next time Porter-Cable has unveiled two reciprocating saws, one with an orbital action, and one without. The PC85TRSOK Orbital TigerSaw features a crank arm mechanism that allows for a more compact design and also features a tool-free shoe adjustment....
